It really doesn't matter whether you are a YouTube fan or not, we all need to pay attention to phenomenon (which started in April 2005) and possibly determine how we can appropriately position ourselves in this medium. If you have any questions about whether YouTube is a true phenomenon or not, spend about an hour listening to Dr. Michael Wesch of Kansas State University as he delivers this lecture at the Library of Congress. This is time well spent.
Along with YouTube, there are several other sites that are available and can be used to effectively deliver video to the masses. Blip.tv is a personal favorite. I have several videos there for using Web 2.0 tools inside Desire2Learn.
